結びKnot

This work integrates Deleuze's philosophical concept of the "Body without Organs" to explore the de-functionalization and de-organicization of the female body through virtual furniture and 3D design. From the perspective of three generations of Chinese women, it reveals the collective memory and individual experiences of Chinese women across different historical periods.

Inspiration :
My grandmother believes that her body is a "collective body."

She was born in the 1950s, during the early years of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and was deeply influenced by the social values of that time. In that era, the state promoted the idea of individuals dedicating themselves to society and the nation. My grandmother felt that her body did not belong to herself, but rather was a part of the collective and the nation.

She once told me, "Your great-grandmother was even more remarkable—she gave birth to 13 children and was recognized as a heroic mother."My grandmother's body was strong and resilient. Years of agricultural labor had made her hands rough and calloused, typical "worker's hands," symbolizing her selfless dedication to both her family and society.

Design Concept :
The coat rack is typically placed in the entrance hall for family members to hang their clothes, which reminded me of the connections and sense of unity among family members. Its shape resembles a large tree, with the central trunk representing the structure of the female uterus, symbolizing the continuation of life. The roots of this "tree" deeply anchor into the ground, connecting not only the family but also linking it to a larger "collective"—the nation. Women not only dedicate themselves to their families but also contribute to the larger collective and the

The central trunk of the coat rack symbolizes the female uterus, seemingly providing nourishment and support to the family. Through its roots, the uterus is connected to other mothers' wombs, forming a "collective womb." This network of collectivity symbolizes the vitality and dedication of women, nurturing not only the family but also playing an important role on a broader societal and national level.
