This work integrates Deleuze's philosophical concept of the "Body without Organs" to explore the de-functionalization and de-organicization of the female body through virtual furniture and 3D design. From the perspective of three generations of Chinese women, it reveals the collective memory and individual experiences of Chinese women across different historical periods.

Inspiration :
My inspiration comes from my mother. She often jokes that she was much slimmer when she was young, saying, “I was way thinner than you. Look at you now, already over 100 pounds.” She mentioned that when she was a "girl" (a Chinese expression referring to unmarried women), her weight barely reached 80 pounds. But after having me, she could never go back to that size.
However, due to her keloid-prone skin, even though it’s been over a decade since my birth, her C-section scar still itches whenever the weather changes. Over time, the scar has become less noticeable but remains a mark that cannot be ignored.
As she aged and gained weight, she often complained about the folds of fat on her stomach when she sat down, where sweat would collect, causing itchiness. Even so, my mother never gave up trying. In my memory, she was always exercising at home, doing sit-ups or going on diets, but she never managed to stick with it. She describes herself as someone with “three-minute enthusiasm.” Yet, in my eyes, she has tirelessly worked and cared for our family day after day, year after year.
Design Concept :
By combining a sofa with the female waist, I aim to reflect the issue of body image anxiety faced by many women. The curves of the female waist are often subjected to societal pressures, with an expectation to achieve an idealized figure. The sofa, typically seen as a place of comfort and relaxation, contrasts with the tension created by body image concerns.
In my design, I created an animation where the sofa performs a movement similar to "sit-ups," which represents the idea of slimming the stomach and symbolizes the constant struggle and pressure women experience when confronting societal beauty standards.
Additionally, I specifically designed a vertical scar to represent a C-section scar, symbolizing the anxiety many women face regarding body changes after motherhood, especially as pregnancy often alters their bodies. This scar is not only a physical mark but also reflects the complex emotions women experience between motherhood and body image.
